Christingle Service December 2015

We all made and held our own Christingle in our Christingle Service in All Saints Church on December 4th.  We remembered what each part of the Christingle represents and enjoyed celebration through song and reflection through prayer.

Fordham School helping Operation Christmas Child

As a school we are again supporting 'Operation Christmas Child' and Samaritan's Purse.  We are delighted that we have 32 boxes to send off to children who need our help.   We had an assembly about the help these boxes have provided in the past and saw the wonderful smiles on the children's faces.  We talked about how were showing our values of Compassion, Respect and Friendship with this project.
With each shoe box a booklet of Bible stories will be given also.  We look forward to supporting this again next year.   Some of the messages from our children:
'I love to help others'     'I wanted to put a smile on their face'   'I have given some of my toys'

Chelmsford Cathedral

On Tuesday Years 1 and 2 visited Chelmsford Cathedral to take part in an Advent and Christmas workshop. We had a very enjoyable morning during which the children learnt about the different parts of the Christmas story and then finished off by dressing up and re-enacting the story.

Remembrance Day- Lest We Forget

We marked Remembrance Day by sharing the poem of Flanders Field on Monday and the symbolism of the poppy.  On Remembrance Day, Mrs. Reynolds led collective worship for the school which ended with a minutes silence.  The children reflected on our values of:  responsibility, compassion, respect and hope.  Year 6 attended to service at the War Memorial where each child read out a name of someone who lost their life in one of the two World Wars from Fordham.  They respected the 2 minute silence and reflected on times of peace and conflict after the service.

All Saints Assembly in All Saints Church

All of KS2 went to All Saints Church for our assembly today to mark All Saints Day.  Mrs. Reynolds told us about the meaning of All Saints Day and how it was special to mark this in church for 'Fordham All Saints' children.
We all found the passage from Psalm 31 linked to saints and talked about its importance.  We finished by all singing When the Saints Go Marching In.
Well done to Joshie who identified from the word SAINT on the cards held by Y4 you could make the word SIN.  Mrs. Reynolds also told us the story of Saul turning to Paul.

Church Schools' Day at Chelmsford Cathedral- October 2015

We had a wonderful day at Chelmsford Cathedral learning about many stories from the Bible and participating in the story telling too.  We crossed the Red Sea, were out in the wilderness, observed the Babylonians attack the temple and waved our palm leaves as we listened to the story of the Messiah.
The day ended with all of the schools joining in a spiral dance singing Lord of the Dance.  We reflected on the challenges of many of the key figures from the stories we heard and related these to our values in school.
