Church Schools' Day at Chelmsford Cathedral- October 2015

We had a wonderful day at Chelmsford Cathedral learning about many stories from the Bible and participating in the story telling too.  We crossed the Red Sea, were out in the wilderness, observed the Babylonians attack the temple and waved our palm leaves as we listened to the story of the Messiah.
The day ended with all of the schools joining in a spiral dance singing Lord of the Dance.  We reflected on the challenges of many of the key figures from the stories we heard and related these to our values in school.

Fordham supporting the Samara's Aid Appeal

Over the last 2 weeks we have been collecting to send special boxes of aid to support the people in Syria.  We have managed to collate 6 large boxes of aid for babies (3 for boys and 3 for girls) and these are to be dispatched tonight by lorry to Syria.  Our thanks to everyone in the school and local community for their help.

We hope that you will know many happy days with your baby,
and be blessed with good health, joy, hope and love.
This box of gifts comes from your brothers and sisters in the UK
who long to comfort you in all circumstances, and who care about your welfare.
We wish you every happiness.

Harvest Service

Today was our Harvest Service in church where we thanked God for all His gifts. We reflected upon how lucky we are to have so much food and thought about those less fortunate than ourselves. The children sang a selection of traditional and modern harvest hymns. All the children brought gifts to the harvest table and Class 5 led the prayers and readings. Mrs Reynolds told the story of Ruth and Naomi from the Bible and the service was followed by tea and cakes in the school hall. Thank you for supporting by attending, providing food gifts for the food bank and/or cakes. Thank you also to the Friends of Fordham for organising the Harvest Tea.

Special Places

As part of our RE work in Class 2 we have been thinking about special places. We listened to the story 'A Place for Ben' and this got us talking about out own special places. Many of the children talked about their homes as special places, especially their bedrooms and the garden. They explained it was where they felt safe and happy. Other examples were; Grandma's House, London, the zoo and the beach. The children produced some amazing, creative work for their home learning task entitled 'My Special Place/s'
